A Nordic King
by Karina Halle
Publication Date: September 21, 2018
Genre: Contemporary Romance
About The Book:
When I first applied for the job I thought it would be like all the others: working as a nanny for an aristocratic family.
Then I got the job and found out how wrong I was.
Now I’m the new nanny for two adorable little girls who happen to be princesses.
Their father is the widowed King of Denmark.
And my new home? The royal palace in Copenhagen.
Adjusting to my new life isn't easy but the hardest part hasn’t been the girls who still grieve over the loss of their mother.
It’s their father.
Cold, mysterious and moody, with an icy stare that seems to penetrate your soul, King Aksel may have hired me to take care of his daughters but he wants as little to do with me as possible.
Yet the longer I share these palace walls with this man, the more that I’m drawn to him. His chiseled face and sexual swagger are only part of the package. It’s in the long, intense glances at the dinner table, the way we’ll brush up against each other in the halls, the rare glimpses of the man deep inside, like the sun passing through clouds.
But no matter how I feel about him, we can never be together.
You think it's bad enough being in love with your boss?
Try falling in love with a king.

My Review:
A Nordic King by Karina HalleMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
A Nordic King by Karina Halle is her third standalone book in the world of the rebellious European royals. Told in dual POV between King Aksel of Denmark and his nanny, Aurora, this book is an emotional roller coaster of forbidden love, high on sexual chemistry, end scorching hot in the sheets (and up against a wall...). Well-written and well-pace this book was a welcome answer to the truth behind the stoic King we have met in the previous two inter-connected books, The Swedish Prince and The Wild Heir.
Aurora has been a nanny for a few different families over the years but when she gets the call to interview for a secretive position and discovers it is for royalty she jumps at the chance. She is completely on board, the girls seem to like her already and she could very much like them too. So when their father storms in, tells her she can go - she is NOT getting the position it's disappointing and infuriating. He didn't have to be so rude or condescending. Thanks to two little girls that know exactly which of their fathers buttons to push and which heartstrings to pull, however, she does end up hired. And is ready for some hazard pay in dealing with his constant acerbic tone and curmudgeonly demeanor. If only he wasn't so hot when he was scowling...
Aksel has been punishing himself ever since his wife died. It's been two years and the girls need a new nanny. So far, None have worked out. When he meets the new candidate, Aurora, it is a resounding no from him. One look at this beautiful woman and he knows he can't be around her and still hold onto his restraint and misery. He doesn't need her kind of temptation in close proximity on a daily basis but unfortunately for him, his daughters have other ideas.
Emotional, forbidden, dark secrets, checkered pasts, insane attraction. This book had it all PLUS a happy ever after. Enjoy!
