Review: Moon

Moon (New Species, #10)Moon by Laurann Dohner

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Moon by Laurann Dohner is the tenth book in the New Species series.

I cannot remember how I stumbled upon this series or author but am so glad I did.

The New Species are a genetically engineered mix of human and animal DNA that were created by and subsequently tortured by Mercile Industries.
The series starts around the time when the government raids the Mercile facilities. They capture the Mercile employees and begin rescuing the test subjects who are referred to as numbers. These "New Species" are genetically mixed with human and animal DNA (canine, feline or primate) and are strong, physically superior and much more immune than humans. Each book takes us through a progressive timeline going forward from this rescue while focusing on a different New Species character and their particular steamy story.
While there is a slight paranormal twist (genetically mutated/enhanced characters) that is the only part that makes this paranormal. Everything else is based on this planet, in this time, and amongst us and our modern day quirks.

I love this series and am eagerly (read: IMPATIENTLY) awaiting the release of the next book!

I've dreamed about seeing you again but I didn't want it to be this way or for this reason. I'm going to do everything in my power to help you. I wont abandon you this time. I've regretted taking off on you more than you'll ever know.

He would never allow her to push him away again.
She's mine to keep! It was his last conscious thought before everything turned black.

He surprised her by reaching out and cupping her face. His thumb was gentle as he stroked her cheek. "We have unfinished business, sweetness."
