Tasty Review Tour: Sail Away With Me by Kate Deveaux

Sail Away With Me

About the Book:

Title: Sail Away With Me
Author: Kate Deveaux
Purchase: Red Sage | Amazon | Barnes & Noble

Before Jody Carter and her three best friends ever set foot aboard the luxury cruise ship, Jody falls into the arms of uber hunky celebrity guest Taggart Keith, when he saves her shoe from falling to the depths of the sea. Their attraction is undeniable, but the recently divorced single mom knows the last thing she needs is to complicate her life in just seven short days. But that’s exactly what happens when Jody takes a chance — for once in her life— and gives into a week of sensational pleasure. Taggart helps her discover her more sensual side — one tantalizing night at a time.

Excerpt:

"Hey there, Jody,” he called out.

“Oh, hi….Taggart,” she said with surprise, pretending she hadn’t seen him.

“We really have to stop meeting like this.” He smiled and walked towards her down the narrow hall dotted with luggage.

She laughed nervously at the cliché that was proving all too true if she was to keep her sanity. “I guess so. Well, this is my room.” She fidgeted with her keycard as he came up beside her.

“Mine’s just down the hall.” Taggart pointed behind him, but he just stood there, his tall frame close to her. She looked up at him, overly aware of the scent of sandalwood, one of her favorites. Very masculine.

“Mmm...coincidence,” she said, the hallway becoming smaller by the minute when he flashed that boyish smile, with one corner of his mouth raised. Cocky, but undeniably sexy at the same time.

Unable to break the gaze, she tried to insert the keycard into the lock, not paying attention to what she was doing. The card grazed the slot and she forced her eyes away from his.

“I guess you didn’t find your friends after all?” he inquired, leaning casually against the wall, as she slid the keycard all the way in the lock.

Caught red handed at her own lie, she smiled down at her shoes. “No, I didn’t.”

“So you can have that drink with me after all,” he stated flatly, placing his hand over hers as she held the key in the lock.

Her heart pounded in her chest. She couldn’t move a muscle. “I don’t think that’s a good idea,” she said.

He frowned but left his hand on hers. “Because?”

Because? Her mind raced. She couldn’t tell him it was because she was afraid. Afraid how her body trembled when he was near, how her cheeks burned and her sex thrummed.

“I’ll wait,” he said with a devilish grin eyeing the keycard still in the lock.

“I really don’t think it’s a good idea, is all.”

“You already said that,” he said straight faced, but she could see the playful look in his eyes. As he removed his hand, he continued to lean easily on the doorframe, his face close to hers as if he had all the time in the world to wait for her to be ready. He was close enough she could see the barely visible laugh lines when he smiled and the slight five o clock shadow on his chiseled jaw.

“Look Taggart,” she said, just saying his name made her heart beat faster. “I’m not ready for…” her heart beat rapidly thinking about just what she wasn’t ready for… to be intimate with a man.

“Ready for what?” he teased. A flush of desire rushed through her. He was playing with her, flirting with her.

My Review:

SAIL AWAY WITH MEMy rating: 4 of 5 stars

SAIL AWAY WITH ME by Kate Deveaux is a romance that starts with the cruise but doesn't end there. It goes way beyond falling in love onboard.

Jody is recently divorced and on a cruise with her three best friends that one of them won in a promotion. First thing she does is nearly lose her shoe. Thankfully a handy beefcake Prince Charming bringers her show back to her...

"Whose is this?" holding the petite sandal high in his hand, parting the crowd searching for the owner of the shoe.
-Taggart Keith, beefcake of this tale

Despite trying to keep her distance, the famous self-help author just won't give up. He positively pushes his way through her boundaries and into her heart. It's what happens after the cruise that make this more than a quick steamy romantic read. They live on opposite coasts and she cannot uproot her life, not with her son, dad and best friends all living in Beacon Bay. But will the successful author be able to leave his busy Miami life?

Sail away with Jody and Taggart and find out for yourself.

Food: Pretzel Sticks

So today I decided to make some more candy-coated pretzel sticks. My daughter turns five on Thursday and I thought she could take some to daycare to share with her class mates.

What you need:

pretzel sticks/rods
Meltable chocolate or morsels
Sprinkles

How to:

Place morsels in a microwave safe container
Microwave on a defrost setting for about 4 minutes, stir, then in 30 second intervals, stirring in-between until the chocolate or morsels have completely melted.
I prefer to take a small butter knife and spread the chocolate on the pretzel rod.
Then I roll he coated rod in sprinkles.
Next I place on wax paper in the freezer for about 5 minutes so it sets.
I then place each rod in a bag and twist tie it and store in the refrigerator. You can buy the bags at craft stores in the cake section.
I usually keep going until the chocolate runs out.

I keep switching from chocolate to morsels as the ones pictured below are coated in Butterscotch "morsels" but you can also buy white or milk chocolate bits in the baking section.

The sprinkles I used today were just whatever I had on hand.

Food: Chicken Pot Pie

I made the most delicious chicken pot pie. So delicious in fact, that I wanted to share this with the world. Using a Pampered Chef® recipe and my Deep Covered Baker it was quick, easy and ... wait for it ... delish!

Easy Chicken Pot Pie
Ingredients

Prep Time: 15 Minutes
Total Time: 1 Hour, 5 Minutes
Yield: 8 Servings

Ingredients:
½ cup (1 stick) butter (melted)
½ cup all-purpose flour
3 cups chicken stock
2 tsp finely chopped thyme leaves
2 garlic cloves, pressed
1 tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
3 cups diced cooked chicken
1 cup 2% milk
1 medium onion (if desired)
2 cups frozen mixed peas and carrots
½ pkg frozen puff pastry sheets (1 sheet, thawed)
1 egg
1 tbsp water

Directions:
Step 1:
Preheat oven to 375.  Add butter and flour to 4qt cooking pot, whisking until smooth. Cook over medium-high heat 6-8 minutes or until mixture is light golden brown, whisking occasionally. Add stock, whisking constantly until smooth. Add thyme, pressed garlic, salt and black pepper to pot. Simmer, uncovered, 6-8 minutes or until sauce is thickened. Remove from heat. Stir in cooked chicken and milk.

Step 2:
Meanwhile, finely chop onion. Add onion, frozen vegetables and chicken mixture to Deep Covered Baker, mix well. Unfold pastry onto lightly floured surface, seal seams and roll to an 11½-in length. Score pastry lengthwise in half and then crosswise into four rectangles to make 8 rectangles. Lay pastry over filling; press edges against sides of baker to seal. Trim excess pastry. Whisk together egg and water, lightly brush over pastry.

Step 3:
Bake, uncovered, 30-40 minutes or until pastry is golden brown. Remove baker from oven; let stand uncovered, 10 minutes before serving.
Pie filling bubbled over a little but this was still yummy!
