Him by Carey Heywood
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Him by Carey Heywood, what can I say? This book had my emotions in a vice grip from the get-go. The part that really grabbed me was the going back home, seeing people from way back, old feelings resurfacing, the bittersweet reminiscing, and just the bitter part too...
Sarah Miller is a neurotic workaholic with a severe avoidance issue. What happened that caused her to be gone from home for seven straight years? Why is she dreading going back so much? The story passes back and forth between her senior high school year and the present. Will is not the one that got away, he's the one she fled from. The circumstances of their breakup are slowly revealed, so I won't divulge. When Sarah finally arrives home she realizes just what she's been avoiding, and how it has effected everyone in her family. A poignant portrayal of misconceptions and lost opportunities all tied in with hope and rediscovery.
There is a Happily Ever After and I really enjoyed this book.
There's another book being released with these characters.
I'm not clear on the details, possibly from Will's POV but not a re-write of Him, just a continuation of the characters lives...
Her (Him #2)
