About The Book:

Author: Charli Webb
Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance

After years of waiting, Rowdy gives up on Skylar and tries to purge her from his memory with cheap tequila and one night stands.
When Skylar finally returns, Rowdy is no longer the shy, sweet boy she fell in love with. He’s bitter, angry and determined to protect what remains of his shattered heart. She’s determined to reclaim it, but first she has to put it back together.
Set in the eclectic town of Eldorado Springs, Colorado and Eldorado Canyon State Park, a rock climber’s paradise, “Naked Edge” is a new adult contemporary romance about perseverance, second chances and the healing power of love.
Excerpt:
Steam pours into the hall when Rowdy comes out of the bathroom. He’s wearing nothing but a towel around his narrow hips.
I run to him without thinking and plaster myself against his damp chest. I bury my face in his shoulder before I have a chance to consider the consequences. “God, Rowdy. I’m so sorry.”
He pries my arms off his neck. His voice is hoarse. “It’s not your fault.”
“I know. But I still hate that it happened. And I’m so sorry about your mom.”
“Stop.” He speaks through clenched teeth. His fingers dig into my wrists as he yanks my hands over my head and pins them to the wall behind me. His pupils dilate, swallowing his irises until they’re nothing but ice-blue rims.
A shiver runs from my head all the way down to my toes. My heart thumps against the base of my throat as he leans in. He’s going to kiss me.
There are at least a hundred reasons for me to stop him, but I can’t seem to think of a single one. I can’t stop trembling either.
Rowdy presses his forehead against mine and whispers my name. His voice is rough, deep and seductive. “Skylar?”
“Yes?”
“Go to bed.” He lets go of my hands and steps back.
I take a slow, shaky breath, pretending I don’t want to scream. Or cry. Or punch him in the mouth. Or crush my lips against his. Or rip that towel off his body.
My Review:
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Naked Edge by Charli Webb is a complete story with a Happily Ever After ending, but the journey you take to finally make it to this HEA is tumultuous to say the least.
We begin with Skylar and Rowdy as teenagers in love and promising each other forever. When Skylar disappears off the face of the earth Rowdy searches and waits and holds on and as long as he can. When defeat sets in he turns to women and booze. One night stands and alcohol. Skylar leaving was only one tragedy he had to deal with when she left.
Skylars back, finally, after years away. She doesn't expect to jump right back in with rowdy but she also doesn't expect the changes in him. She had no idea of anything that happened in the town after she left and when she finds everything out it's just one shock after another.
Add to the trauma of trying to reunite with your first love there's another person involved that wants Skylar to have NOTHINg to do with Rowdy and is prepared to go psycho over him. Nothing like a little extra drama to spice things up. Dumb move on this persons part though, in my experience this kind of outside influence only tends to push the two people closer together. It gets them beyond their own issues and unites them against a common enemy.
A sweet tale filled with poignantly bittersweet moments that thankfully do have a happy ever after.
Thank you for reviewing Naked Edge. :)
