Genre: New Adult Romance Suspense
ISBN: 978-1491810866
Raina has tried to forget her past, forget the pain, but when she finds herself staring straight into the fury blazing in her ex-boyfriend's eyes, her dark past comes rushing back. Furious with herself for actually having chosen someone like her father, she uses that anger to her advantage and fights for her life...and for her future that she prays will involve the man she can't seem to get out of her head.
Kas is a natural leader, a fierce fighter, the type of man you send in when you need to get the job done. He is a courageous hero who is used to risking his own life to save others, but can he save the one who has captured his heart from her horrific past and the men who are hell-bent on destroying her?
As Kas and Raina try to navigate through the twists and turns of a deviously intelligent human trafficking group, they find solace in each other's arms. Can they infiltrate the trafficker's tight ring, saving the innocent lives from imminent danger before it's too late?

In the midst of the FBI team closing in on the Ghost, another ghost from Raina's past taunts her, promising that she will be his. Meanwhile, a different trafficking ring is gaining strength in New Jersey. Michael solicits Raina's help, needing her smooth, sultry voice to win the audition for the new singer in the ring leader's swanky night club. Raina knows her life is in jeopardy with the dangers of being undercover, but she is blindsided when she discovers that it's her heart that is threatened with a mortal blow.
Raina tries to heal from the nightmares of her dark past as the grisly bodies of innocent victims surface when the team gets closer to discovering the identity of the man responsible for the infuriatingly clever and powerful slavery ring. When Raina finally comes face to face with the Ghost, he quickly engulfs her in a twisted game of cat and mouse, delivering a veiled threat as he slips through her fingers. As the ghosts of her past and present ensnare her in their deadly web, Raina realizes the danger has just begun.
Title: After The Rain (The Rain Trilogy, Book Three)
The danger ignites to a blazing new level, and Kas struggles between the need to finally exorcise the Ghost and his need to protect his wife. Tension mounts as an internal battle wages, tormenting Kas as he watches Raina put her all into taking down the man responsible for horrific sex slavery and gruesome deaths. When a new player takes control, Jefferson orders the end of the Ghost’s game with Raina, which results in one final, devastating act, leaving Kas desperate and willing to do whatever it takes to save her…by whatever means necessary.
My Review:
4 out of 5 Stars
A powerful, tragic, dark tale of love in spite life's hardships. We learn about Rain's past in the first book, Saving Rain and see how the relationship develops between Rain and Kas as they try to take down a human trafficking ring. In the second book, Healing Rain, FBI agent kas has proposed to Rain and she ran. Now he'll do whatever it takes to track her down and get her back. Rain is about to go undercover and into danger. Book three, After The Rain, is by far the most powerful and danger-filled. Have some tissues handy "cuz people they be dying". Do Rain and Kas remain alive and together??? Read this awesome series to find out, but be warned, you may need a bottle of wine or two to decompress after reading (or during).

Author Q&A:
When did you know that you were going to be an author one day?
I knew that I wanted to become an author several years ago, during one of my college courses, but I didn’t start writing my debut novel until September of 2012. Saving Rain was originally intended to be a standalone novel, but once I started writing, I couldn’t stop. I’m totally addicted! I fell in love with the characters, especially Kas and Raina, and the novel turned into a trilogy.
What inspired you to write about abuse and human trafficking?
I have some experience working with survivors of domestic violence and was amazed by their courage and strength. With human trafficking blowing up in the news, I felt the need to include this depravity in the trilogy. My hope is to shed at least some light on the dark issues of sex-slavery with The Rain Trilogy. The Human Trafficking Hotline is in the back of all three novels and the link to Polaris Project (an organization that fights all forms of human trafficking in a holistic approach) is on my website (www.karen-annestewart.com).
How do you feel about language and sex in novels?
I read all sorts of genres, everything from Shakespeare to Fifty Shades of Grey. Personally, I feel an author should stay true to the characters they are trying to portray in the story, writing what the character would say or do if the situations were real, which can involve both language and sex. With The Rain Trilogy, there is a slower build to the intimate scenes because of Raina’s abusive past. The first novel, Saving Rain, doesn’t have full intimate scenes, but it’s full of sexual tension between Kas and Raina. Healing Rain does have intimate scenes, but they are written more as a form of healing, while After the Rain has more spicy intimate scenes. There is mild language in The Rain Trilogy due to my feeling stronger words weren’t needed to portray the characters feelings, the emotions shown between Kas and Rain are powerful enough to show this. With that said, the novel I’m working on now, Ash to Steele, has much stronger language because Breck’s character would use words like that. My favorite novels include books that do not have one curse word to books that have hot, steamy scenes and hefty language. To me, it’s more about the story than anything else. If the story I’m reading is good, I don’t worry about smaller details.
Tell the readers a little about The Rain Trilogy.
The Rain Trilogy is a powerful story of abuse, human trafficking, and beautiful, redeeming love. Raina is such a strong female character but she’s also fragile. Despite her emotional scars from the abuse she suffered, there’s nothing weak about her. Readers can see her strength even in her timid moments. Kas is my favorite character, strong, confident, protective. He can be a bit controlling at times, but out of good intentions, and he would do anything to keep Raina safe.
Raina joins Kas’ FBI team by translating at first, but becomes more actively involved in tracking and taking down handlers, even going undercover in each novel. Saving Rain involves the developing relationship between Kas and Raina while delving into her dark past while introducing the leader in the most powerful trafficking ring in modern history. Healing Rain picks up right where Saving Rain ends and gives the reader more insight into the team member’s lives as well as bringing Raina face to face with the Ghost. There’s a new character in Healing Rain that knocks both Kas and Raina to their knees. After the Rain is intense from the beginning to the end; lives are on the line, some lost, and Kas faces his worst fear.
What’s your writing routine?
Usually, I write in my pjs with music blasting in my ears. Sometimes, I’ll have a glass of Riesling or White Zinfandel, but I always have caffeine. I bounce when I write; I can’t seem to sit down and write consecutively from beginning to end. I had parts of After the Rain, the final novel in the trilogy, written while still working on Saving Rain, the first novel.
Coffee or tea?
Both!
If you could be any mythological character, what would it be?
I would be an Elf. Not the kind with a green hat and pointy shoes, but the kind of Elf in Lord of the Rings. I love their stealth, skills, and ability to charm. I’m fairly shy in real life, so having characteristics of an Elf would be very entertaining J.
