About The Book:
Title: Liabilities
Series: Balance Sheet #2
Author: Shannon Dermott
Published: December 27, 2013
Purchase: Amazon
Trying to put distance between her and Kalen won’t be easy for Bailey. She doesn’t expect that her life will get more complicated when she heads home. At first glance, she knows she’s made a calculated mistake. Turner is everything he had been and more. With her heart out of balance, she risks becoming a liability to everyone surrounding her.
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Liabilities by Shannon Dermott is the second book in her serialized mini-series, Balance Sheet. It is the stunning continuation of Assets and takes us back to Bailey's past in Pennsylvania.
**Warning**This review contains spoilers for the first book**
Bailey has left New York and Kalen behind. A requirement, as part of the audit investigation, that they no longer keep seeing each other causes her to run. She's had enough of heartache and she decides to go home. The community she was raised in (picture ALMOST Amish) is not quite ready for the outside world that Bailey can't help but bring with her. She is not quite ready for seeing her first love again either.
Turner is the love she left behind. He was her first love and her first lover. She's not quite over him and he's definitely not over her. While Bailey tries to get her mind straight over the men in her life there's a threat nipping at her heels. Kalen shows up at the compound/community with bad news and witnesses first hand Bailey's feelings that still exist, not only for him but for Turner.
Again, this ends on another cliffhanger, but, fear not, the conclusion (Equity)to this great storyline will be out some time in March 2014. Another un-put-down-able book.
Bailey Glicks, an accountant, is all too aware of her asset value. She’s pretty but not beautiful, smart but not a genius, and certainly she thinks she is more than enough for her fiancé. All that changes when she catches his cheating ass in a lie.
Needing to get away and start anew, she heads to New York to stay with her best friend and former college roommate, Lizzy who has more than enough space to accommodate her. What she didn’t bank on are two things.
First, Kalen Brinner, a man whose implied wealth and attractiveness on paper, shouldn’t be interested in her. But their combined sexual attraction sparks off like fireworks. Will it be enough to sustain a relationship, especially when circumstance makes one of them appear less than trustworthy? Can they survive the heat or will they combust in the flame of their own passion?
Second, when the assets in audit she’s working feel like they’ve been tainted with fraud; her supervisor isn’t buying her theory.
And if she’s wrong about either, both could make her lose big. One her heart. The other her job.
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Assets by Shannon Dermott is the first book in her serialized mini-series Balance Sheet. This a marvelous story of two people and their undeniable attraction to each other completely in spite of themselves.
Bailey is a reserved and quiet woman who has just had the wildest night of passion with a man she doesn't even know on the night that should have been her wedding day but for her cheating Fiancee.
Kalen is the nameless hottie from the restroom, and he's a Scottish enigma that is enamored with the girl that ran even after their spectacular chemistry made itself known.
The plot thickens as Bailey's auditor job takes a dangerous turn and Kalen is who she turns to for help, but is he everything he says he is?
This does have a cliffhanger ending but the second book is available already, Liabilities. This was a book I did not want to put down and I resented everything that made me have to stop reading I was that absorbed!
Shannon Dermott considers herself a native nomad. During her youthful years she’s lived in a number of places around the United States. However, she considers herself a southern girl. Shannon’s first love is reading, diving into other realities to explore and brave new adventures. To share her writing is the best experience of all. She writes for both young adults and adults whether it’s contemporary or paranormal, it’s focuses on romance. When she’s not writing or reading, she can be found hanging out with her family of five, her husband and three kids. She now resides on the east coast of the United States, or maybe more apt is stuck in her office chair.
