My rating: 4 of 5 starsNever Been Ready by J.L. Berg is the second book in her Ready series. Having not read the first book I did not feel the lack in the story at all.
Leah Morgan is fed up with guys and with being downtrodden. She is done, but then she meets Declan. He's into her and she decides to let him in - For One Night!!! Except she can't stop thinking about him and it's months later.
Declan is in the same boat. He has no desire to settle down or even revisit the same hook-up. When he sees Leah, it's different. Things aren't simple with her. He is with her and it confirms just how special she is to him!
Both characters are well developed, intense, and have dark pasts and secrets that they want to forget. As life goes though, things never stay buried or quiet. The only thing now is to see if they can survive the ugliness of their pasts and stay rock solid, together.
I love when a bad-boy gets sweet on "the one" and when the girl refuses to take any crap from him. My first book by this author but definitely NOT my last!
