Where You Are by Alla Kar is the first book in her Together series. I don't know what I was expecting, but an engrossing, un-put-downable book was what I got. The story of Laney and Lachlan was intense and emotional and brought back so many feelings of first-love and first-times, feelings of regret and immense joy.
Laney and Lachlan fell in love in high school. Lachlan's family moved to Jacksonville, Florida from Australia. An interesting first meeting at a career fair throws these two together and they become inseparable. Unfortunately, something happens. Something dark and devastating and Lachlan moves back to Australia with his family after high school.
It's four years later and Laney has kept herself out of relationships directly, only ever offering advice to her poor, unwitting dorm-mates who keep falling for the wrong guy or moving too fast with the right one. In a drunken agreement with her friend she agrees to teach bad-boy a lesson about loving and leaving and unwittingly end up at a dress-rehearsal for his cousin Savannah's wedding - enter Lachlan who is back in the states for his best friend Lucas' wedding. So, yeah, It's Lucas & Savannah's wedding and Lachlan is the LAST person she thought she'd ever see again.
Emotions run high, embarrassing (but sometimes hilarious) situations occur throughout and this bittersweet romance with a happy ending will leave you ready to read more from this great author.
