Capture by Penny Reid is the third and final installment in the Elements of Chemistry bundle. As a whole, all three books (Attraction, Heat, and Capture) make up the first story in the Hypothesis series. Lots of words about some awesome books but now to more about the final book in Martin and Kaitlyn's storyline.
***spoilers ahead for the previous two books***
So Martin and Kaitlyn have been apart for around 9 months or so. The split was a necessity after Martin's revenge plot against his father got in the way of Kaitlyn's mother's political career. Kaitlyn chose right over what she viewed as wrong and has been recovering from that decision for months. She changed her majors, realizing that music (as Martin had observed) was her passion and her gift and she is steadily and intelligently and rationally attempting to make her life better.
When Martin starts to appear in her life again, past her initial shock and violent panicked reaction, she decides to give him a chance to be friends like he's asking to be. She's trying to put aside her sadness that he only wants to be friends, acknowledging that perhaps she might still want more with Martin Sandeke.
Again, the internal monologue and behavioral quirks of these characters are just beyond words for me. Penny's writing style is one that just sucks me in. I have to settle in and just READ her stories. Nothing else matters when the pages are open on a Penny Reid book, they are that DAMN good.
About The Author:
SEX! It all started with sex, between my parents. Personally I don’t like thinking about it, but whatever works for you is a-ok with me. No judgment. The sex happened in California and much of my life also occurred in that state until I moved from the land of nuts (almonds), wine, silicon… boobs, and heavy traffic to the southeast US. Like most writers I like to write, but let’s get back to sex. Eventually I married and gave birth to 2 small people-children (boy-6, girl-4 as of this writing). By day I’m a biomedical researcher with focus on rare diseases. By night I’m a knitter, sewer, lino block carver, fabric printer, soap maker, and general crafter. By the wee hours of the morning or when I’m intoxicated I love to listen to the voices in my head and let them tell me stories. I hope you enjoy their stories.
