About The Book:

Armed with two years' worth of savings and the need to experience life outside the bubble of her Oregon small town, twenty-five-year old Amber Welles is prepared for anything. Except dying in Dublin. Had it not been for the bravery of a stranger, she might have. But he takes off before she has the chance to offer her gratitude.

Twenty-four-year-old River Delaney is rattled. No one was supposed to get hurt. But then that American tourist showed up. He couldn't let her die, but he also couldn’t risk being identified at the scene—so, he ran. Back to his everyday life of running his family’s pub. Only, everyday life is getting more and more complicated, thanks to his brother, Aengus, and his criminal associations. When the American girl tracks River down, he quickly realizes how much he likes her, how wrong she is for him. And how dangerous it is to have her around. Chasing her off would be the smart move.

Maybe it's because he saved her life, or maybe it's because he's completely different from everything she's left behind, but Amber finds herself chasing after River Delaney. Amber isn’t the kind of girl to chase after anyone.

And River isn't the kind of guy she'd want to catch.

Allison's Review:

Chasing River (Burying Water, #3)Chasing River by K.A. Tucker
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I thoroughly enjoyed Chasing River by K.A. Tucker. Who can't resist a hot Irishman or that accent?!?!

The story is set in modern day Dublin. However, I really enjoyed all of the historical elements that the author included in the book. For me, it added a whole other layer to the story that I found fascinating.

Amber Welles is an American traveling around the globe who ends up arguably at the wrong place at the right time. She nearly falls victim to a pipe bomb explosion but ends up meeting River, an Irishman who runs his family's 200 year old pub steeped in its own unique history.

After seeing an image that triggers a memory of the person who saved her from the explosion, Amber finds River tending bar at his family's pub. River hasn't been able to stop thinking about the girl he saved and he is thrilled when he sees her ordering a drink in his pub. You can't really say they start dating each other because Amber is only in Dublin for a short time before she plans to move on to her next destination. But their romance develops very quickly. One of my favorite scenes in the story is when River takes Amber on a proper date to a restaurant where storytellers get up on stage. River surprises her by getting on stage and telling a bittersweet story of one of his distant ancestors during the Irish potato famine.

Events occur that threaten Rivers' family's safety and Amber finds out some revelations about his past that he didn't share with her. She is torn between her feelings that have quickly developed and feel so right and whether she is making a huge mistake getting involved with this man. Will she decide to continue on with her travels or see where this relationship with River can lead???

I haven't actually read the first two books in the Burying Water series but based on how much I enjoyed this one, I will certainly be going back to read those. You can read this book as a stand alone but some references from the previous books would have made more sense had I read those first - but overall, it didn't take away from this book at all.

Loved every bit of Chasing River!! 5 stars!!!

And don’t forget BURYING WATER and BECOMING RAIN, the first two books in this thrilling series…
