It's the time of year for miracles...

Once upon a time, Lula and Carter were inseparable and Christmas was Lula's favorite time of the year. But when Lula refused Carter's proposal one dark December night--unwilling to abandon her hometown to live the dangerous life of a treasure hunter's wife--the holiday lights went out in her heart. She abandoned all hope of romance and embraced a hermit's existence, keeping her distance from dangerous men and untamed cowboys. Until now...

Years of hard knocks have taught Carter that the greatest adventure is the one he once found in Lula's arms. He's back in Lonesome Point determined to win back the only woman he's ever loved, but Lula is just as determined to keep her heart under lock and key. She gives Carter twelve days--and twelve dates--to make his case before she sends him on his way, not counting on the fact that the two of them have grown into people even more meant to be.

It looks like Lula and Carter are on track to Happily Ever After take two, but when Lula's old fears are reawakened Christmas Eve it will take a holiday miracle to keep them together.

Twelve Dates of Christmas: The Ballad of Lula Jo (Lonesome Point, Texas, #2.5)Twelve Dates of Christmas: The Ballad of Lula Jo by Jessie Evans
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Twelve Dates of Christmas: The Ballad of Lula Joe by Jessie Evans is a novella in her series. This is the sweetly tragic tale of young love gone wrong and second chances and all they can bring. Lula and Carter were in love - until he insisted on leaving Lonesome Point and she refused. The turn of events around this forever soured Christmas time for Lula, and while she put on a good face year after year, inside she was Scrooge and The Grinch all rolled into one. When the appearance of a Christmas garden gnome threatens to rock her world all bets are off and there is no more room for bah-humbug and small hearts.

A heart-warming, well-paced Christmas time story with Characters that you feel like you know and appearances from old friends from other books in the series. One of my favorite authors - highly recommend!

Cowboy bikers, fireworks, and romance, oh my…

Wild girl, Mia Sherman, has a secret—she isn’t as fearless as she pretends. Descended from Lonesome Point, Texas’s founding family, Mia grew up hearing tales of an old Irish curse that had followed the Shermans to America. At age twenty-four, Mia is still terrified of the stories, because they aren’t stories. They are a warning about what will happen if Mia allows love and romance into her life. The curse struck Mia’s grandmother and her great-great-whatever grandmother, and Mia knows she could be next. The first-born daughter of every generation is cursed to lose her husband on her wedding night, which is one of the many reasons Mia has sworn off relationships.

Until the fateful day Sawyer Kane rides his Harley into her life …

Rancher turned restoration expert, Sawyer Kane, can’t believe his luck when the feisty owner of the lingerie shop next to his hotel turns out to be the curator of his latest project, a ghost town he’s been sent to restore. He’s looking forward to long, hot days talking history, and hotter nights with Mia, but the redhead with the killer smile seems determined to keep him at a friendly distance. But when a dangerous man from Mia’s past arrives in town, Sawyer finds himself drawn into her inner circle, and into the legend of Lonesome Point itself.

Can true love conquer all, even a centuries-old curse? Mia and Sawyer may be the first to find out.

My Review:

Leather and Lace
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Leather and Lace by Jessie Evans is the first book in her series. To be honest, I tend to roll my eyes at rugged Texas cowboy books. I have no reason for it - they're just not my thing. Until now. This book blended the world as I know it and the romantic fiction world together in such a way that I didn't find it so completely, well, hokey.

Mia is back home in Lonesome Point, Texas running her lingerie business, Lavender and Lace and is still recovering from a nasty breakup and subsequent attack that happened almost a year ago. Her family (read Grandmother) owns the ghost town and is planning to get the still closed/non-touristy side renovated and restored to help boost business.

This is where the ridiculously hot Sawyer swaggers in. He does wear a cowboy hat but the only horse he has between his legs is a supercharged Harley and all the horsepower it has to offer. Sparks ignite between Mia and Sawyer but because of her past she ignores it and denies her attraction to Sawyer.

Can she move beyond her issues with her past to let him in, is it worth it. He's only here for as long as the restoration takes and then he will be on to his next job...

A simple enjoyable read that will warm your hands and heart. Mia is hilarious and Sawyer is the manliest sweet guy ever.

Even sweet cowboys have a sinful side…

Robert Lawson—Bubba to his friends—is six feet, four inches of tall, dark, and handsome cowboy, with a panty-melting voice and a face made to launch a country music career. But when his family’s ranch hands go down with the flu, Robert cancels his high-profile auditions and returns home to help out. Marisol Medina has been looking for her golden ticket since she became a country music manager, but she refuses to mix business and pleasure, even if it will be hell, resisting temptation while spending a week at the Lawson family ranch with her star client.

But as Marisol and Robert grow closer and the passion between them ignites, Marisol must decide if a chance at forever is worth breaking all her rules.

My Review:

Saddles and Sin (Lonesome Point, Texas, #2)
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Saddles and Sin by Jessie Evans is the second book in her Lonesome Point, Texas series.

This story is about Bubba (Robert Lawson) and Marisol Medina. We initially met Bubba in the first book, Leather and Lace as Mia's close friend and partner in crime. We learned then that he sang and had a chance at a recording contract.

Marisol is Bubba's manager and is dead set on making him successful and famous and getting him signed into a great recording deal. His success equals her success and that's what she has been working so hard for. The only hiccup in this plan is the attraction they have towards each other. Bubba's resistance is due to his gentleman-like manners, Marisol's is because she is both gun-shy and afraid of messing up the working relationship they have.

When opportunity presents itself, Bubba lands a kiss on Marisol that surpasses all kisses, ever. She plays it off as inconsequential but is only lying to him and to herself.

When Bubba gets the phone call from home that he's needed on the ranch and as flu-bug has temporarily wiped out most able bodied males in his family, he takes Marisol with him back to Lonesome Point so they can continue to "work" on building his career and finishing some songs they were working on together. What happens in Lonesome Point, however, will change both their lives irrevocably.

Another beautiful romance with just enough heat to start the panties sizzlin'. I am excited to read the next book, Diamonds and Dust.

A sexy second chance romance from NYT and USA Today Bestselling author Jessie Evans

The home run neither of them expected…

Pike Sherman is a legend in Lonesome Point, a hometown boy who made it to the big leagues. Literally. Professional baseball acquired one hell of a pitching arm and its latest celebrity bad boy when the gifted Pike was drafted seven years ago. Pike’s broken heart came along for the ride, too, but he kept that private, and since leaving Lonesome Point has kept his distance from his hometown. But when Pike’s little sister, Mia, begs him to be the Dude of Honor at her wedding, he can’t refuse. He takes advantage of a break in the season and returns home to find himself thrown together with the one woman he never wanted to see again.

Tulsi Hearst is on the verge of losing her Equine Therapy business, and letting down all the kids she’s come to love. After a mix-up with the grant board, she needs to concentrate on finding more funding, not dealing with Pike Sherman, the boy she sacrificed so much for, and the one person she’s ever lied to. And what a lie it is… Pike would hate her if he found out. She knows she should stay far away from the brooding man her summer love has become, but Tulsi can’t resist a slow dance with the only boy who ever made her blood rush.

After just a few days back in Lonesome Point, Pike can’t imagine life without the girl he left behind, but when Tulsi’s secret is revealed, his heart is broken all over again. The only thing worse than losing Tulsi, is losing six years with the daughter he didn’t know he had.

My Review:

Diamonds and Dust (Lonesome Point, Texas #3)
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Diamonds and Dust by Jessie Evans is the third book in her Lonesome Point, Texas series.

This story is about Pike Sherman (Mia's brother) who has been away playing professional baseball and Tulsi, Mia's best friend. I'm so totally pleased with myself when I saw this storyline coming when Pike was mentioned in the last book and Tulsi's reaction was what it was. Oh the angst...

Tulsi has been around for us since the beginning of the series. She's Mia's best friend. practically her sister they're so close. Mia was theone who helped Tulsi with Clementine when she was a baby. Late night feedings, colicy evenings filled with no sleep. Mia was there, helping. Tulsi is now struggling to keep her equine therapy business open and keep herself from falling apart when she learns that Pike, Mia's brother, will be back in town for Mia's wedding.

Pike hates coming back to Lonesome Point. Not only does he have a very hard time dealing with his father but it's home to th ewoman that ripped his heart straight out of his chest seven years ago. Tulsi was the one and only for him until the day she told him she was pregnant with another man's child.

Now that Pike's back, Tulsi is terrified he'll take one look at Clem and see who the father is. Once that happens she'll not only lose the last connection to Pike but she'll probably lose Mia too.

Another beautiful romance with some steamy romance and angsty drama. Love this series.

How had he survived for so long without her? She was the treasure he'd been hunting for, the precious thing he'd lost, and all the proof he needed to believe in miracles.~ Pike

About The Author:

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Jessie Evans, gave up a career as an international woman of mystery to write the sexy, contemporary Southern romances she loves to read. She's married to the man of her dreams, and together they're raising a few adorable, mischievous children in a cottage in the jungle. She grew up in rural Arkansas, spending summers running wild, being chewed by chiggers, and now appreciates her home in a chigger-free part of the world even more. When she's not writing, Jessie enjoys playing her dulcimer (badly), sewing the worlds ugliest quilts to give to her friends, going for bike rides with her house full of boys, and drifting in and out on the waves, feeling thankful for sun, surf, and lovely people to share them with.
