Knot by M. Mabie is the first in her brand new Wake Family series. This series is a spin-off to the Wake series but can be read without reading that series. This book is also a standalone contemporary romance, no cliffhanger. Told in dual POV with back and forth's along the timeline it is an interesting tale that blends past and present together in the most deliciously angst filled way.
The characters are deep and complicated. An Alpha male with controlling tendencies and a tough-as-nails female who typically wouldn't respond to an alpha well. the combination of these two, though, is magic. Reggie and Nora are a fresh addition to the couples of romance novels and the story is a deep and passionate tale that has some much needed originality in a world filled with same old storylines.
