All her life, all Jane Doe has ever wanted was a name, a family and someone to love.
She’s suffered many hardships, but none have come close to her treatment at the hands of the enigmatic Edward Rochester.
The only thing Jane wants to do is love Edward openly, but he has forced her to keep their budding romance hidden. Despite giving him an ultimatum, his will is set in stone and he refuses. His secrets run so deep they’ve driven a wedge between their hearts, keeping them apart but still longing for one another.
Driven by death, madness, rivalry, violence and love, their story inevitably intertwines once more, and they realize they cannot escape the affair they began in the middle of the English summer… but they soon learn not all things were meant to stay hidden.
When Edward’s darkest secret finally sees the light of day, will Jane be able to forgive him, or will she be forced to leave Thornfield forever?

Paradox by Amity Cross
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Paradox by Amity Cross is the second book in her three part series The Thornfield Affair, a modern day re-imagining of the story of Jane Eyre. I was enchanted and addicted to Jane Doe and Edward Rochester's latest story.
Jane and Mr. Rochester told in a modern setting is something I was intrigued by completely. After we left them last time - broken and apart I wasn't quite sure where the story would go. Obviously some things will be different from the original story of Jane Eyre, but I was in the dark as to what that would be. I think this one seemed to flow a little faster and read a bit more seamlessly than the first book, Euphoria, and I am on tenterhooks for the third and final book in this series, Zenith.
Amity Cross is the International Bestselling author of wicked stories about rock stars looking for redemption, gritty romances featuring MMA fighters and dark tales of forbidden romance. She loves to write about screwed up relationships and kick ass female leads that don’t take s**t lying down.
Amity lives in a leafy country town near Melbourne, Australia and can be found chained to her desk, held at ransom by her characters.
Don’t send help. She likes it.
