Stand by A.L. Jackson is the sixth book in her Bleeding Stars series. This is Zee's story. This book is told in dual POV and can be read as a standalone to the series BUT it did leave me yearning to have read the other books just to know their stories better.
Zee has been in the band for a while but NOT since it began. When his brother Mark died, he took his place as drummer in the band. He has always stood alone and on the sides and in this beautifully crafted story we get to find out why.
Alexis is desperate to get her twin sister off the streets, away from the drugs and just somewhere that is safe. Her own lack of self-preservation places her in the direct path of the dangerous man that is controlling her sister and if wasn't for Zee's rescue she may have been just another statistic.
This story was beautiful. Emotional, sexy, filled with questions that slowly but surely the answers were revealed. It managed to encompass the emotions present when one feels like their actions have cause a terrible event. The guilt, the suffering, the self-blame, and the determined purpose to never make that same mistake again. Enjoy!
