The Boy Next Door by Ella James is the second book in her latest series, Off-Limits Romance. This is definitely an off-limits romance in the early stages of the two main characters lives and is a beautifully told second-chance romance at its core.
Amelia is young, around six, the first time she ever meets Dash. They, and Dash's sister Lexie, are neighbors and become steadfast friends through the years. Amelia has always seen Dash as her hero and worships him and all their many conversations about life, art, the stars.
Dash is three years older than Amelia and as he gets older and into his teens, his thoughts of her begin to haunt him. He is so drawn to her but the age difference... it is too much. He distances himself from her and by the time college rolls around, he's gone.
Fast forward a few years to Amelia in college and her internship lands her directly in Dash's path. So many years of silence between them, all at his hands, and his betrayal and distance have put a wedge between the friendship they both used to cherish. Can they rebuild what they once had or did his actions so many years before send it all up in flames?
I absolutely adored this. The slow build of the story with flashes from present back to the past and told in dual POV. LOVED IT! Enjoy!
