He was the myth and the legend of our small town. But no one
knew the truth... except me.
Me
My childhood was stolen by a monster. I’ve forgotten what
love feels like. What happiness feels like. What hope feels like. I am numb.
Him
He’s possibly as damaged as I am. Maybe even more. Scarred
just as much on the inside as the outside. Just like me. He doesn’t speak. He
doesn’t smile. He hides in the woods like an animal. I should be scared of him. But I’m not. He’s
the only one that has ever made me feel. And I want to make him feel, too.

My Review

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Tied by Carian Cole is the second book in her Devil's Wolves series. This is the book about the tortured, damaged brother we meet briefly in book one, Torn. As we sink into the story full of despair, pain, tragedy and awakening, we slowly learn the back story of Tyler Grace and why he is living like a recluse in a cabin in the woods, barely speaking to even his own family and also the back story of the girl in the hole, Holly Daniels, who Tyler saved a year or so ago.
Tyler has his justifiable reasons for being the way he is and doing what he does. Their town is small and judgmental. The only inexcusable thing, in my opinion, was shutting out his family. It goes to show how much guilt he carries that he deliberately holds himself apart from those he loves, not to hurt them, but to hurt himself.
Holly is recovering from being held captive and abused for the ten years that have passed since she was taken at the age of eight. With counseling and a special home and rehabilitation program, she is getting braver and stepping out of her shell, but it still isn't enough. Until Tyler. The man that saved her. That man that continues to save her, day after day, once she manages to break through some of his walls.
These two exquisitely damaged characters are so beautifully written. There was heat and steam but only as part of their growing trust for each other and as proof positive of their healing.
Loved this HARD! Enjoy!
