#BlogTour: Timid by Devney Perry

TIMID

Lark Cove Book 2

By Devney Perry

Release Day – SEPT 4

About The Book:

Willa Doon has always been shy. Her quiet demeanor was something she’s always embraced. That is, until Jackson Page moves to town. The one man she desperately wants to take notice struggles to remember her name.

Year after year, Willa stands by, watching as the bartender slash playboy drowns his demons in beer and sex. Then one night, he shows up at her door, suddenly aware that the girl he’s seen around Lark Cove is now a beautiful woman.

Except what he doesn’t remember is that this visit isn’t his first. They spent a night together once before. A night he’s forgotten, thanks to a bottle of tequila.

A night that crushed a timid girl’s heart, and set a broken man on the path to heal them both.

Excerpt:

I scooched my chair in toward the table, trying to put a little more space between Jackson and me, but he wasn’t having it.

He put both hands on the back of my chair, then leaned in close. “Hi, Willa.”

“Uh . . . hi.” I shivered at the heat from his chest on my bare shoulders.

Why was he standing so close? My parents were right there. Our table was one of four tall, square ones in the center of the room and there was plenty of space between tables.

Plenty. P-L-E-N-T-Y.

But was Jackson using any of that plentiful space?

No sirree. He stayed pressed against the back of my chair, like there were only three inches of usable space behind him, not three feet.

My skin prickled he was so close. I tried to nudge my chair forward again but it barely moved. Sweat beaded on my temples and I pulled in a shaking breath.

Jackson’s woodsy, rich scent was everywhere. It overpowered the stale beer, pizza and peanuts, and I inhaled a deep breath, unable to resist.

Sexy Hot Forest. That’s what they’d call his cologne.

My Review:

Timid (Lark Cove, #2)Timid by Devney Perry
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Timid by Devney Perry is the second book in her latest series, Lark Cove . Willa and Jackson's story is heartwarming and endearing and frustrating at times because, you know, men! Ever since getting a small teaser of Willa's story at the end of Tattered I have been eagerly awaiting this release. I was NOT disappointed!

Willa has been in love with Jasckson since she first set eyes on him. She may have been 16 and he way too old for her at the time, but it was teen-love at first sight. It also never went away. Into adulthood, Jackson Page was her crush, the example to which all other men were compared, and everyone was found wanting. If only he could remember her name was Will-A not Will-OW it would be a good start. When he completely forgets their kiss, her FIRST kiss, she is done with Jackson Page. The past years of crushing be damned. D O N E, done!

Jackson is terrible with names and once he learns one it sticks, even if he learns it wrong, as he did with Willa all those years ago. When he keeps having these vivid dreams of a blonde haired beauty and a kiss on a staircase he thinks he is going crazy until he sees his best friends sketch of the girl from his dreams. None other than Willa. How is this possible? Now knowing that his dream woman is real he sets out to pursue her but when she shoots him down EVERY SINGLE TIME he has to wonder why?

The steps it takes for Willa and Jackson to go back to kissing and loving and letting each other in are what makes Devney Perry one of my favorite authors. Every word has a purpose, every twist has a reason. Well-written, well-paced and perfectly plotted this was another fabulous five-star emotional read! Enjoy!
