Review: The Coincidence # 2: The Redemption of Callie and Kayden

The Redemption of Callie and Kayden (The Coincidence, #2)The Redemption of Callie and Kayden by Jessica Sorensen

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Redemption of Callie and Kayden by Jessica Sorensen is the second book in "The Coincidence" series.

***SPOILER ALERT***

If you haven't read book 1, The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden, then you should not read this review.

Ugh, I have waited Months for this book to come out. The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden ended so abruptly and left you with such a cliffhanger it was almost physically painful.

So, does Kayden survive his father's attack?

I didn't know going into this book. I was fairly confident he did, because otherwise why would there be a book 2 right? But I was also coming off the tail-end of Taking Chances, and for those of you that have read that, there is no telling what the author may decide to do with their main people. I mean, part of a good story is when you haven't heard some version of it before, right?

Well, he does survive. Barely. His family is so messed up. I wanted to take a knife to his mother. She was just evil! Callie & Kayden spend so much time battling their own personal demons, trying to do it alone, I felt a little lost in their wallowing with them. As the book progresses they start to realize that they may not be able to handle it alone. Kayden takes quite a bit longer to come to this realization.

We get to learn some more about Luke. Just enough to be curious and eager for his story with Violet which will be in book 3, The Destiny of Violet & Luke.

Books like this make me appreciate my childhood, my parents, and life in general. No matter how bad I thought I had it (which was really very good) it was not even a scratch on the surface of the pain these people have had to deal with.
