Review: Stripped by Jasinda Wilder

StrippedStripped by Jasinda Wilder

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Stripped by Jasinda Wilder...there have been so many other lengthy reviews about this book I feel like I'm just jumping on the bandwagon. I don't often do lengthy, even when I try *laughs*.

I absolutely freaking loved this book! I've been impatiently awaiting it's release since I learned about it at Book Bash Orlando and I was NOT disappointed!

I spent my day soaking up each digital page of this book from cover to cover. I really enjoyed Grey's backstory and didn't expect to get to know her as deeply as I did. Her talents, losses and perseverance are inspiring...and if we could all just stumble upon our own personal movie star hunk in the VIP room of a strip joint, well, the world would be a much cooler place (unlike my home right now with it's broken AC).

A bad boy actor with a history of seedy behavior just happens to be the handsome hunk in the VIP room that "Gracie" has to dance for, a private show for Dawson Kellor, her soon to be boss at her day job. She just doesn't know that, yet! He comes of as aggressive and moody but then he is the dreamboat book husband we ALL want. Protective, providing, and passionate *sighs*!

I really like that Grey fights him all the way for her independence. The fact that he makes it all but impossible for her to NOT accept his help makes it much easier for me to respect her. There have been MANY books I have loved that I have also spent a majority of the time wanting to slap the snot out of the leading ladies. Grey is not one of those ladies!

Each film is a piece of magic. It’s just like dance for me. When I dance, I lose myself. I can be anyone, do anything. I can say what I think, what I feel. With films, I can get lost in another world, in the lives of other people with problems different from mine.

Grey on her love of dance and film making

“Grey Amundsen.”
“Grey. Like the color?”
“Yeah, well…except it’s spelled with an ‘e.’ G-R-E-Y.”
“Oh. Like Fifty Shades.”
I shrug, not wanting to admit I don’t know what she’s talking about.

Grey meeting her college roommate for the first time

He’s the face of Cain Riley, hero of the Mark of Hell trilogy, a series of paranormal action-adventure/romance books that outsold both Harry Potter and Twilight. Those movies made Dawson’s career. His face is on the books now. There’s a Mark of Hell ride at Universal Studios, with Dawson’s face plastered all over it.

Grey's opinion of Dawson

As a Harry Potter, Twilight fan and an Employee of Universal Studios, I ESPECIALLY loved this. Pop culture references are my favorite. Okay, here is one more reference I loved...
“…And the Oscar for Best Actor goes to…Dawson Kellor!” Channing Tatum claps his hands, the sound too loud in the microphone, his hands hitting the envelope.
