Signed by Marni Mann is a standalone romance told in dual POV. It is perfectly paced, excellently written, the angst is at just the right level and the sex is hotter than Hades!
James is a successful young actress, just turned 18 and recently separated from the only man she ever loved. In an effort to show the world that she is doing fine and over her past relationship she and her best friend Eve hit one of the VIP clubs. It is at this club that she locks eyes with one of the hottest men she has ever laid eyes on - and considering the industry she works in, that is saying something. One thing leads to another leads to a scorching night together and a promise to keep in touch.
Brett knows who James is. He works in the industry as an agent. She is younger than him and should be off-limits but she is too irresistible. After their night together he flies back to Miami and they spend the next month texting, talking on the phone and video-calling.
When a celebrity alert comes through essentially ruining James' career in one fell swoop she has almost no one she ca count on. Her manager Tim, her best friend Eve and, she had hoped, Brett. He however, cannot handle the news or his feelings of betrayal and he also cuts her loose.
I'll stop there in my recap/synopsis as it will lead to spoilers going forward. The angst in those moments with James, experiencing the betrayal and shock with her. So beautifully written. My first Marni Mann book but it will NOT be my last. Enjoy!
